Cooperation Universidade Eduardo Mondlane – TUM

Collaboration has been set up between Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo, Mozambique (UEM) and Technische Universität München (TUM). Everything started with a meeting with Dr. Axel Berg, former Member of the German Parliament who was Board Member of the Deutsch-Mosambikanische Gesellschaft e.V. He established the contact to Prof. Dr. Venancio Massingue, Mozambican Minister for Science and Technology who supported our approach. After a Fact Finding Mission to Mozambique a collaboration contract between UEM and TUM has been established. Several lectureships in Mozambique have followed, where special focus has been placed on the set up of a hydraulics laboratory. A Mozambican Delegation visited TUM in 2010 which was followed by a Master’s Thesis on the electrification of a school in Matola Rio. While being on State Visit to Germany His Excellency, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique, Dr. Aires Bonifácio Baptista Ali honored TUM with his attendance. An Addendum to the collaboration contract between UEM and TUM has been signed then, enabling two Mozambican students to do their Master’s Thesis at TUM.
